2014 Reunion

Next year's FASAF reunion will be held in Ft. Myers, Fl. The official dates are 13-16 April 2014.Our headquarters and host facility is the Embassy Suites hotel, located at 10450CorkscrewCommons Drive, Estero, FL 33928(Estero is a suburb of Ft. Myers).  The Hotel is located1/3mile east of Route I-75, on exit123 also known as Corkscrew Rd. The hotel has indoor corridors, a fitness center, outdoor pool and patio and a full service restaurant and lounge.

We have secured a room rate of $109.00 plus tax per night: this includes a cooked to order breakfast or a buffet served each morning, a two hour reception with free drinks every evening featuring your favorite beverage, free parking,  complimentary shuttle service with-in a five mile radius.  All rooms have a refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board and hair dryer.  The rates are good for3 nights on both sides of the reunion. Rooms are blocked at these rates and must be booked prior to March 1st
2014, after which they cannot guarantee availability of rooms or the group  rate.  Check-in time is 3PM and check-out time is12 noon. Individual attendees are responsible for their own room and tax charges.  Each reservation must be guaranteed with one nights deposit  using a major credit card.  As always, early reservations are encouraged. To make a reservation, all guests should call Embassy Suites Hotel at 1-239-949-4222and ask for the reservations department and identify yourself as part of the FASAF2014 group.
As we always say, a FASAF Reunion is a great way to renew old friendships, exchange dates of family activities, make new friends and share memories and war stories in the hospitality room.  Please mark your calendar and plan to join us next April.
Whether you plan to attendFASAF2014 or not, we need for you to respond to this letter so we can update our files and let us know of your continued interest in FASAF. Last year we sent out over 500 letters and only received back 150 replies.  We hope that this year we will hear from many more of you and that you will be attending this year.  If you do attend, I think you will enjoy the reunion and the activities we have planned for you.  If you cannot attend, we welcome a note or e-mail which we would be happy to post in the hospitality room for all to see. A small donation to help offset administrative and mailing cost would be appreciated.  
On Monday evening, April 14th, we have arranged for a two hour Cocktail party and reception(1730-1930) with  heavy hors d'oeuvres and free drinks.  The reception will be held on the pool deck in a covered section.  On Tuesday evening the 15th, we will again meet on the pool deck for two hours 1730-1930for free drinks and snacks. On Wednesday evening April 16th' we will have our standard dinner and dance which will start with two hour cocktail party (1730-1930) with free drinks followed by a Buffet Dinner consisting of: Crisp Garden salad with a choice of three dressings, Fresh Rolls and butter, Carved Roast Beef, Roast Pork Dijonnaise, Chicken Marsala, Rice Pilaf, Red Bliss Potatoes, Seasonal Fresh Vegetables and assorted Desserts to include a coffee station. There will be servers available to assist anyone who needs help with their plates.
Your committee has arranged several activities for your enjoyment:
On Monday the 14th we are going to visit the Edison &Ford Winter Estates, which consists of a museum, tropical  gardens and Edison's Laboratory. We will leave the hotel at 0900 on a bus for a 30 to 45 minute drive.  After touring the museum (2-3 hours) we will board the bus and travel to Christof’s Restaurant on beautiful McGregor Blvd., for lunch.  Lunch is on your own with separate checks.  After lunch, we will return to the hotel.  Cost of museum tour is $16.00 per person; bus cost depends on the number of people riding in each group.
On Tuesday April 15th, we will board the bus at 0900 and drive to downtown Ft. Myers where we will be given a guided tour that will educate and entertain you with stories of local history, and speak about the personalities of the founding fathers  who built the city.  The tour will be conducted on the bus with some walking required.  After the tour, we will board the bus and drive to Buckingham Farms where we will have lunch and tour the farm.  The farm is the largest hydroponic and vertical farms in Florida.  They grow all types of vegetables, fresh fruits, farm fresh eggs, honey and many other items. They have over 400 peach trees and over 10,000 strawberry plants to provide constant harvest from November to May. I am told they have the very best in delicious homemade prepared food, Including homemade cakes and pies, breads, entrees, and the best jams in town. After the tour of the farm we will board the bus and return to the hotel.
On Wednesday April 16th, we board the bus at 0900 and drive to Port Sanibel and go on a two hour sightseeing and dolphin watch boat ride.  After the boat ride we will have lunch at the Lighthouse Water Front Restaurant. Lunch is on your own with separate checks. After lunch we will return to the hotel. Cost of the boat ride is $30.00 per person.  Bus cost will be depended on number of people riding. We will not have a golf tournament this year due to lack of participants, however we have arranged  for those who want to play golf during the reunion at a golf course that is only 1mile from the hotel.  The hotel shuttle  is available to take you to the golf course and pick you up when you are done. Green fees are $30
